OVERVIEW OF CI LABS

Cyberinfrastructure Labs (CI Labs) resulted from the rapidly growing need for research computing that crossed disciplines in support of collaborative efforts. CI Labs optimizes software-hardware-network integration by providing a campus infrastructure supporting timely access to state-of-the-art tools and rapid integration of emerging industry technologies into the campus fabric.

The CI Lab initiative at Harvard is distinctive because it employs all three user components: the Users, the Developers and the Integrators. By bringing together the three user groups of a research center, Harvard's CI Lab allows for unified cross-functional coordination in knowledge management, workflow and digital content. This model allows for rapid deployment and integration of emerging technology in CI, taking pipeline discoveries from the lab into the classroom before public availability. more
